The Tegu Factory is a washing station produced by the farmers of Tekangu Farmers Cooperative Society. Located in the region of Nyeri, the Tekangu Co-op is made up of 1,200 producing farmers. “Tegu” is a Kikuyu local name for river meaning “low place” referencing a famous indication of a fertile terroir for agriculture production. The coffee is washed with fresh river water that is recycled and reused multiple times a day to significantly reduce water consumption. The coffee is then dried on raised beds producing a crisp, clean and consistent coffee.
