In the rich volcanic soils surrounding Mount Kenya, smallholder farmers grow SL-28, SL-34 and Ruiru-11 for our Kenya Savana.
The famers belong to one of several cooperative societies in the area. Harvest runs from November to December, and cherries are delivered to the wet mill the same day they’re picked. The cherries are then sorted according to ripeness, and foreign matter is filtered out. After pulping and washing with fresh river water, the beans are dried in the sun on raised beds before being delivered to a dry mill for further processing.
Cupping notes: Milk chocolate, plum, savory, herbal; creamy body, winey acidity.
