We are thrilled to announce that we will soon be offering UNIOCAFE Coffee Kids Project Coffee. $0.10 per pound from each purchase of this coffee will go directly back to the farmers/project. All coffee from this project from the Coffee Kids project, a program of Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung North America.
This year’s coffee project is comprised of coffee from 22 young farmers from UNIOCAFE’s Youth Committee. They were trained in cupping, preparing the coffee for sale and the organization of the committee. UNIOCAFE is located in the Ocotepeque region of Western Honduras supporting 28 organizations as a second level producer association. There are currently 1,095 producers (934 of which are men and 161 are women).
Coffee Kids partners with farmer associations in the Trifino region of Central America, UNIOCAFE (Honduras), APOLO (Guatemala) and El Tunel (El Salvador) to provide access to new agricultural and business methods to young farmers through training, mentorship and capital. The farmer organizations offer services such as marketing, input supply, and technical assistance to its members and act as facilitators for social initiatives in the region. Together, the associations represent close to 1000 farmers.
