This coffee is truly a family affair. El Bado Estate belongs to Maria Etelvina Días and her son, Nilson Lopez. Maria’s two daughters, as well as Nilson’s wife Cielo, also live on the farm. The estate has harvested coffee for nearly twenty-five years. When Maria, now in her late sixties, could not make the trip to accept First Prize of the 2012 Late Harvest Cup of Excellence competition, Nilson made the journey to accept the award in honor of his mother’s incredible initiative.
