Becamo, our sister company in the Santa Rosa de Copan region of Honduras, is widely recognized as one of the top coffee exporters in North America. The company was founded by Emilio Medina in 1983 and became part of the Nuemann Kaffee Gruppe (NKG) in 1989. Since then, it has expanded into the most advanced processing facility in Central America.
Becamo has also helped many of its producers to diversify their production and raise their quality and production standards, helping them be more competitive on the global market.

In San Andrés, Maria Josefa Ayala oversees her family’s estate. Her husband works in a nearby town, and while her kids are in school, Doña Maria works with the farm’s employees to make sure everything is in order.
During harvest season, she picks cherries alongside her employees. And when she’s not harvesting, she’s taking care of her plants, preparing them for next crop. Doña Maria prepares lunch for her children before they return from school and spends time with them at the table before beginning the second shift of the day.
Doña Maria is also pursuing educational and professional advancement and enjoys going to training sessions offered through Becamo. In particular, she is interested in learning new ways of using fermentation to increase the quality of her specialty coffee.
