Panama Hortigal Estate

Rising 1,400 to 1,500 meters above sea level, the Hortigal Estate, or Finca Hortigal, in Panama grows 100 percent Typica cherries. Over its 35.5 hectares, fertilizer is applied with “precision technology” to maximize yields while minimizing production costs and waste. After harvest, the cherries are brought to a processing plant, or beneficio, in the Cochea-Dolega district. The beneficio lies on the main road that runs between Boquete and the city of David, about 20 kilometers south of Boquete. The cherries are sun-dried on patios before being transferred to drying machines for the final drying process.

Cupping notes: Chocolate, toasted nut, black tea, lime. (7/31/18)
