Konkua Okipa is a cooperative of 147 coffee growing members from Agarabi/Kainantu, Eastern Highlands Province in Papua New Guinea. Coffee from the Konkua Okipa Co-op is a variety of Arusha, Mundo Novo, and Typica, with growing altitude ranging from 1,700 - 1,898 masl, with a wet and hot year-round climate. Coffee is grown in a valley and mountainous area of the Kainantu region rich in volcanic soil and under shaded trees. Estimated coffee production is 224.4 tonnes of green beans per season with harvest period from March - September. Cherries are hand-picked only when they are ripe, then pulped and fermented, washed and sundried. The Konkua Okips Co-op offers farmer training programs and supports extension work on HIV/AIDS, Financial management, personal viability, gender equality, coffee husbandry and certification standards and procedures. They are NASAA Organic Certified (IFOAM Accredited).
Cupping Notes: Creamy, silky body, slight citrus, savory sweet acidity, sweetens as it cools with nutty, herby, chocolate, caramel and spicey flavors.
