This coffee comes from a Cooperativa de Servicios Multiples Sol y Café (Coop Sol y Café), a group of 59 local organizations of approximately 1,000 farmers. They are dedicated to protecting their environment by using sustainable farming practices. They collectively make agronomic and economic decisions to implement creative marketing strategies, to protect the environment, and to help their families and communities develop and progress. Coop Sol y Café hold both Organic and Fair Trade certifications.
- Fair Trade (FT): signifies that the farmers receives a minimum price and links them directly with importers, creating long-term sustainability. An FT certification gives farmers better incomes, allowing them to hold on to their land and invest in quality.
- Organic specifies that the coffee is grown without chemical pesticides or fertilizers, using methods and materials that have a low impact on the environment.
