AB coffee beans consist of both A and B coffee beans. The screens used are 15 and 16=6,6 mm. These two screen of beans, A and B, are mixed together to form the grade Tanzania AB. The grading process in Tanzania is also the same as in Kenya, where it is graded on bean size. So these AB beans are smaller than the AA grade and not as valued. However, the Tanzania AB grade is the most plentiful in a particular consignment and is used as a representation of the other grades. After grading, the quality distinction "Plus" indicates that only a minimal amount of slight defects were allowed as long as they have no effect on the cup.
