Inaugural Portland, Maine, Caffeine Crawl June 1

Portland Caffeine Crawl.

Did you know that Maine has more miles of coastline than California? And that its nickname is Vacationland. And that it has 67 lighthouses and 3,166 islands? Of course you did—everyone loves Maine!

So, when the idea was floated to get behind the first-ever Caffeine Crawl in Portland (yes, the closest trans-Atlantic port to Europe and birthplace of Stephen King Portland), we couldn’t sign on quickly enough!

We hope you’ll join us Saturday, June 1, for a crawl that will take four different routes, three of which are jog- and bike-friendly and all of which will culminate at the Foundation Brewing Company for a discussion of fermentation (and some delicious sampling). The conversation will be guided by Foundation Brewing Company Head Brewer Joel Mahaffey and InterAmerican Quality Control Coordinator Amanda Armbrust-Asselin, who will each share details about fermentation as it participates in their respective beverages.

Crawls begin at 9:45, 11:30 and 12:30, depending on the route you select. Tickets range from $15 to $26. At each stop—which will include Higher Grounds, Speckled Ax and Tandem Coffee—a little talk or demonstration will be shared, along with a sample drink or chocolate. And finally, Crawlers will arrive at Foundation Brewing at 1:45 or 3 p.m., depending on the route, for the final presentation and great time. Can’t wait to see you there!
